In January, one of the great corporate golfing rivalries in Hong Kong, the Taifoong Trophy, got underway at Shek O Country Club. The annual competition, which was first held in 1993, sees colleagues from Swire face a team from HSBC, with each organisation taking it in turn to host the event. January’s game was originally to be played in September 2025, but had to be postponed due to the arrival of a powerful typhoon in the city.

Throughout the competition’s history, there have been 15 wins for Swire and 11 for HSBC, as well as four draws. This year saw another draw as the sides notched up six points apiece. The prize for the longest drive was presented to Martin Murray, Finance Director, Swire Pacific, while the award for the nearest to the pin jointly went to Horace Chu, Group Technology Project Lead, HAECO, and Keith Brown, Director, Engineering, Cathay. The next edition of the Taifoong Trophy will be held in October 2026.
